NC State Tourism Extension Attends the International Congress on Rural Tourism and Sustainable Development
Drs. Carla Barbieri and Duarte Morais gave a workshop in the Universidade de Sao Paulo, on the participatory action research methods they use in rural North Carolina. The participants included students and faculty from Latin American universities and representatives from rural development agencies. The NC State Extension Specialists shared their experiences and they also listened carefully to a plethora of ideas and techniques shared by the participants since academic and government involvement in rural development has a rich tradition in Latin America. In this fieldwork in Sao Paulo, Duarte and Carla learned how many of the challenges facing agritourism entrepreneurs in Brazil are very similar to those felt by their counterpart here in North Carolina.
