Tourism Extension Releases a New Publication: How Beneficial Is Agritourism?
Drs. Shuangyu Xu, Carla Barbieri, Samantha R. Rich, Erin Seekamp and Duarte Morais co-authored a new Tourism Extension publication titled, How Beneficial is Agritourism? North Carolina Farmers and Residents Respond. To document perceptions of the socio-cultural, environmental, and economic benefits of agritourism, an online survey was conducted in 2010. Farmers and residents in North Carolina recognize that agritourism is important for delivering an array of socio-cultural, environmental, and economic benefits to society. Farmers and residents had similar perceptions of the importance of agritourism across most of the benefits examined in this study.
