Updated NC Hospitality & Pride Training

— Written By Kristen Rice-Gira

Raleigh, NC – Tourism Extension has redesigned and relaunched the NC Hospitality program. Now called NC Hospitality & Pride, this program is designed for Cooperative Extension Agents to train local businesses in customer service by enhancing communication skills and community pride.

The original NC Hospitality training was released in 2007 and became one of Tourism Extension’s most popular programs. In 2013 Cooperative Extension Agents from across the state participated in a focus group to share their experiences and provide recommendations for redesigning the training. Their feedback was used develop a program that better fits the Tourism Extension mission of equitable and sustainable tourism development.

Organized into five modules, this training now covers the importance of customer service, effective communication, host and guest relationships, local knowledge and community pride, and becoming civically active. Individuals who previously participated in the training will find that 60 percent of the material is new. Program availability may vary across the state as this program navigates the new Cooperative Extension structure; please contact us to find the trainer closest to your area.
