High Hopes for N.C. Hiking Trails

Interviewed for the Star News Online, Associate Professor and Tourism Extension Specialist , Dr. Erin Seekamp, commented on the possible economic impact of long distance hiking trails, like the Mountains to Sea Trail in NC. She admitted that expanding hiking trails could lead to more tourism dollars, but a longitudinal study is needed to evaluate spending and project it forward. Others interviewed in the news article, such as tourism business owners in Burgaw, believe they could receive a bigger boost from the Coastal Crescent Trail if added to the state parks system.
