Tourism Extension recently launched a new half-day agritourism training. The training is designed to be about four hours an includes a workbook for attendees to work in, share and take home and continue working in with resources identified throughout the session.

The workshop kicks off with the basics of tourism and agritourism, including what it is, activities and identifying what is the right fit for your farm. Then the training segways into a brief overview of best practices and pricing options. This leads into the ever important discussion of liability and risk management that are integral to agritourism operations. Finally, we finish up with a brief look at marketing options and customer service tips. The workshop is designed to be interactive and for attendees to share their success stories as well as failures.

In the first five pilot counties, attendees indicated overall satisfaction with the content, instructors, and time spent in the training.
