Fork to Farmer Recruits NC Farmer and Chef Duos for New Films

Many restaurants nowadays tout themselves as being “farm to table,” but here's the truth: Authentic North Carolinian farm to table restaurants serve fresh NC local food through careful collaborations and partnerships with local farmers.  The Fork to Farmer Initiative aims to highlight this dynamic pairing of chefs and farmers.

Goals of the Fork to Farmer Initiative


 
  1. Expand public awareness of North Carolina chef-farmer collaborations
  2. Leverage the visibility of star chefs who support local small farms
  3. Increase local farm visits
  4. Diversify income for the farmer
  5. Boost rural agritourism
Enabled through a USDA grant, NC State Extension’s Fork to Farmer team of diverse economic development, local food and tourism specialists work together to create short videos highlighting different chef/farmer duos around the state.
