The Sustainable Tourism Case Studies Clearinghouse has released another case study outlining AI Applications for Destination Marketing and Management. These case studies focus on current challenges the tourism industry faces and offer potential solutions, drawing from examples from different destinations and organizations. The recently released case study explores current implementations of AI (artificial intelligence) technology in the tourism industry, as well as other surrounding industries, with a focus on destination marketing and management.
AI Applications for Destination Marketing and Management describes how Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) use AI both for internal and external functions. A few DMOs discussed within these sections include Choose Chicago and Visit Estes Park. Applications of AI outside of tourism are also explored, such as the American Red Cross’s Clara AI chatbot and Google’s NotebookLM. AI thought leader Janette Roush, BrandUSA’s Senior Vice President of Innovation and Chief AI Officer, was interviewed in the development of this case study to provide context for the current landscape of AI applications in tourism.
This case study will benefit DMO’s leaders looking for innovative insights on how to use AI in the destination management and marketing context - particularly as it relates to advancing sustainable tourism initiatives such as visitor management and pollution reduction.
We’re gearing up for the next case study and would love to have your feedback! Please complete this brief survey to help us determine which tourism challenge we should address next!
