(Updated: Feb. 11, 2026, 6:54 a.m.)

As destinations face increasing disaster risks, it is important to put plans in place and know the available resources. NC State Tourism Extension is launching a webinar series to provide destination leaders and tourism stakeholders with valuable resources and perspectives from those who have faced difficult decisions amid disasters (Registration Link).

The series will kick off with a North Carolina showcase highlighting data from Allison Whitacker of the NC State Climate Office (NC Climate Office Link) and how it could benefit tourism stakeholders. Andrea Webster from the State of North Carolina will join to provide a valuable perspective on how the state supports communities before and after disasters, as well as information relevant to tourism stakeholders. Finally, we’ll round out with Visit NC (Visit NC Partners WNC Recovery Link), North Carolina’s destination marketing organization, which will provide an overview of its disaster protocols to help attendees understand how best to receive and support information sharing.
